Alas- yet another reason why Hollywood film and food critics don't understand nor appreciate what's REALLY going on in America. I read the book- didn't love it...which is rare as I usually find the film version isn't as good as the book. This is the reverse. This film speaks to what it takes to overcome adversity. I come from a very large family- and the scene where Memma takes 1/4 of the Meals on Wheels says it all to me. This happened to me time and again as a child. Ignore the hacks who parade around as inspired and informed judges of art. 90% of the audience LOVED this film- as did I. These are grest actors and they have delivered a tour de force- it's graphic and in your face. THIS IS AMERICA. Get used to it!

Better than spectacular. A must see. Gaga just crushed it being so damn good and beautifully real & original and Bradley expertly guided the two of them in a great piece of movie art.

Sadly, this a totally average effort. Despite the great subject matter potential the director did not develop a single character adequately and because of the award and media review momentum we're supposed to believe this is a Scorsese-worthy effort. It is not. The screen shots and cinematography are just random and jumbled collections of the Sierras and flocks of birds flying. It's a shame Chloe didn't pay attention to her professor at NYU- Spike Lee ( huge fan) A great movie is something like Shawshank Redemption or Dead Poets Society...DEVELOP the character and the quality of the film will follow.
