Thought this was pretty poor, sorry. This material is beyond played out. Ricks whole journey made no sense and the whole episode was contrivance built upon contrivance. Why is this city hidden? From whom? Zombies? LOL. The local warlords are no match for them. The whole premise of the city is a huge contrivance. They took him why? They state he was too "alpha", but his last Walking Dead episode, that was the very reason they took him, but now they took him in despite being alpha. HUH? Of course out of millions of square miles, guess who rick runs into by complete accident? LOL This material ran out of gas ages ago. The "zombies" are so slow and defenseless it frankly always made little sense why all of society collapsed. I was open to having my mind changed if they truly did something new and exciting, but this was not it. And frankly, Rick and Mihonne have zero chemistry. Always have. Daryl and Carol? That was always the walking dead couple people liked. No one ever really thought Rick and Mihonne were some star crossed lovers couple everyone was demanding. Hey, I am sure they got paid a truck load. But this series needs a huge rest. AMC..please do something else..anything else.

This show is a lie that buried far left messaging until the end so the reviews would be positive. The last three episodes was all about republicans are evil, many Trump jokes and references (guess who was like Usher? Gee three guesses!) and abortion is a right! (really). Hollywood has learned to hide their far left loon statements better, but this show is very insulting to half the country. You may think it is just a little horror show based on Poe's writings, but after the sixth episode is a disguised political rant. Up until then, I quite liked it, but then I was actively angry at the bait and switch.

I just watched the first episode. It was intriguing enough but the criticism here was pretty spot on. They made the decision "to jump right in" but that really means there is almost no characters that stood out. The father who can "magically" see what is happening on the other side of the sinkhole really seemed kind of a cheap plot device and is the most contrived use of ebert's law on economy of characters ever. Out of everyone in the world, the one guy who has psychic powers orwhatever conveniently is the husband of a person that fell into the sinkhole. Plus, they kind of act like it is a mystery what is "going on"(with a promo tag line for the season of "where are they" and "when are they") when really, unlike "Lost" it is pretty obvious after the first half hour. If they think this is a mystery, then the series is in BIG trouble. And yes, the effects for such a high concept show on a network is surprisingly mediocre. But given the dreck of game shows and reality singing that networks have become, I almost want to give any network show that tries to recapture the high concept series grandeur of their past a chance.
