I read the book and appreciate the pressure Marcus Aurelius was under, trying to control his impulses when he was the most powerful man in the world. He could do anything he wanted but instead chose to follow a path of virtue instead of winding up like a Fat Elvis Presley, who never saw a cake that he didn't like. He wanted these notes destroyed upon his death but someone thought that they were too important to throw away. He was a very lonely person, since he knew the ways of men thoroughly, and chose the Road less travelled.
