Wholly dissapointed. Colleen did a great job writting a page tuner, there continued to be a lot of intrigue and mystery that keeps you guessing. This book felt very 'Gone Girl' done badly. Spolier: My issues lie in the poor character development. When it comes down to it Lowen is immature, juvinille. I was so dissapointed that we don't find skeletons in her closet, rather she was forlorn and unappealing. What wasLowens's intrigue for Jeremy? Their relationship felt immautre, forced and unrealistic. Lowen watches Jeremy murder his wife after two weeks of knowing him and then feels loyal to him? You do not know this man, you do not know these people... why are you so loyal to them after a murder and after the found letter. She felt desperate and at times very pathetic to me, which had me questioning her and Jeremy's connection, I feel that a man of 'high integrity' (which is what the audience was intended to beleive about him) would seek out a new partner while his inapaicated wife and child lived in the home. That did not suite the character unless he was the villian after all. Last thought: it felt cheap. Colleen had set up such an interesting story but the relationship between Lowen & Jeremy was unthrilling, predictable and common place. I really thought Colleen would rise above that and give us somethign less pallitable, more intriguing. She could have done so much more with the premise she built up. Lasty, the found letter was a little silly & felt like such an aferthought.
