After watching this, I deleted my Instagram and Facebook today, it already feels weird. It's hard to accept you're an addict but acceptance is important.
The movie identifies the problem of how social media is impacting the lives of teenagers and how it is dividing society at large, insinuating violence, and destabilizing governments. It does touch upon how big tech companies are responsible for violence in Myanmar and increasing suicide rates and violence since the inception of social media.
I was disappointed at the way this documentary ends on a soft note. Seriously? These companies may be American but an impact analysis wrt the whole world should be done and presented.
We see how social media has changed our parents, children, and people who we are close with, a gut feeling is always telling us is that it is not making us any happier but more depressed at large. I hope the movie creates a public movement and this snowballs and people start talking more about it and substantial change could be made.
