think the storyline had potential but the actual movie itself didn’t do a good job at really portraying these characters or the story. if I had known what it was like before i watched it, i wouldn’t have watched it. If i’m being honest, it was corny and predictable, and it gave me so much second hand embarrassment. as a teenager, i don’t think it really accurately represented teenagers lives and because of that i just couldn’t really connect to it. the characters are extremely one-dimensional, and it is not a movie that you can really get invested in. as i started watching it, i didn’t really like it, but i kept watching because it had such good reviews so i assumed it would get better. spoiler alert: it didn’t. I think people are praising this movie so much because they’re so desperate for good movies with lgbt and poc representation, but this movie is just bad. it’s basically sierra burgess is a loser, but gay. if you want a good movie with lgbt poc then i would suggest something like moonlight, but this movie just isn’t it.
