I just walked out of #superman2025. The amount of cussing (in English and Spanish), using God’s name in vain, and…je ne sais pas…darkness/cynicism was disappointing. We didn’t have any kids with us, but in case you’re thinking of taking yours, this movie is not kid-friendly. On a side note, I like “The Rookie” TV show, but John’s haircut as Green Lantern was off. #manofsteel from 2013 depicted a messianic Superman, who was more likable. My husband stuck it out and stayed for the whole movie, but he didn't like it either. He is well-versed in DC and Marvel, and he said this movie broke away from the film industry's 30-year agreement of how to portray the Justice League. During the credits, he Googled the movie and found that the storyline is based on the comics from 2005. The actor who played Lex did a great job.

From a cinematic standpoint, it was quite creative with the view from one angle and perspective from different times highlighting several families starting with dinosaurs on up through about 2020. There was too much offensive language for my taste, and the film honestly didn’t evoke much emotion from me. My husband and I actually thought about walking out, but we stuck through it, and the ending was sweet. The three most touching parts were the parents having a conversation with their son about what to do if he gets pulled over by the police (SOOOO SAD that this is even an issue this day and age), the daughter going off to college, and the wife with memory issues remembering where the blue ribbon was. One good thing is that this movie reminded my husband and me that our marriage is awesome (even after 23 years) and we are truly in love, not like what happens to the main characters.
