Dearest Whoopi Goldberg, nearly every single day you voice a rant that the American people can cure our political ills by simply voting the current representatives out of office. The TRUTH of the matter is that the politicians choose the voters, the voters DO NOT choose their representatives. This is possible due to gerrymandering which forces like-minded voters from one party to vote within a district drawn by the opposing party. This is true for both state and federal offices. Less than 15% of political races are deemed "competitive". My county, which is about 80% Democrat- backed, has a Republican Congressman and it is worse in the State legislature. My large county is divided into 10 segments for voting and pieced out to be included in Republican rural territory which waters down and overwhelms the Democrat votes, resulting in a Republican state legislature. Fix the system and stop pretending that our votes count. That is only true in battleground states for national elections, even their state elected offices are gerrymandered. Please stop misleading viewers into thinking their votes count because in the overwhelming majority of cases, they are meaningless. Thank you.
