I will first start off by saying that my review doesn't factor Ash and Pikachu, and thus far, I have only watched up to episode 6 all the way through. This show has been a chore to watch so far. Let me dive into this. First, the characters, starting with Liko. She is a walking anxiety wreck. Her design is pretty cool, but her personality has no redeeming qualities that is expected of a main character. Roy is the opposite, a hyper sugar bomb to the point of perpetual annoyance. Friede, is supposed to be a professor, but for some reason, he doesn't embrace the role. I think that Friede having Charizard and Pikachu is the shows creators trying to bank on their popularity from the original series. They had the chance to showcase some of the new Pokemon and chose not to do so. The remaining members of the Rising Volt Tacklers are forgettable (Literally, I don't know any of their names). The villains, The Explorers, I have no clue what they are even about and their name is garbage. They try to be menacing, but they just miss the mark in my opinion. Lastly, why is Leafage the only attack we see from Sprigatito? She has claws doesn't she? No Scratch or something like that? This results in boring battles. Second, let's talk about the story. Lots of writing that doesn't make sense. Liko was allowed to go to the school that she is at for 2 episodes and then immediately goes back. The Tacklers were hired by her family to protect her so if they were concerned about her safety, why did they even let Liko go to the school to begin with going so far as to even recommend it? Is there even such a thing as a legendary Pokemon when one shows up this soon? By chance, Liko's pendant seems to have a legendary locked up inside of it. What is even the point of this journey bouncing around on an airship? Where's the adversity, constantly getting lost, an meeting random trainers to battle, and of course, CATCHING POKEMON? Extremely boring. I can only say that, for me at least, they severely missed the mark on what I expected to be a successor to the original series.
