Well, I do believe the book was better! Still, I felt the acting was really good from Blake Lively. I have not seen her in many acting roles, but I thought she played this part very well. The book is just able to go into so much more depth than detail that is hard to capture in two hours. It’s hard to say how I would’ve felt just seeing the movie, not knowing anything about it. I still would have felt the acting was very good.

I have bread mini books by this author and found this one to be lacking. It’s 15 hours of a lot of repetition and predictable scenarios. It does give you a decent perspective on Vietnam that I fact checked with my husband who served during that time. He is 10 years older than me. I feel like the story could’ve been told in about nine hours and made it more interesting than dragging everything out.
