so first off the animation was on point for 2016, so ill rate the animation 8.8/10 the plot was pretty cliche, I mean of course the main character is an orphan and there's always a mean blonde girl who is actually influenced by her mother, but then is revealed to be fair and nice. I mean this is literally just barbie princess charm school if you think about it.
It was also very confusing because Felicie only practiced - what, 2 weeks? while those other girls have practiced and waited their whole life for this, I mean yes, their mothers didn't die and leave a ballerina pocket watch for their children but that doesn't mean that they haven't practiced with enough love! they tried their whole life just for a girl to beat them over a span of 2 weeks, I know she was "taught" by the best, but it just cant make sense. plot: 4/10
love interests - I hate both of them. its like none of them are good for felicie, one is just runty, the other is stuck up. also very cliche! 1/10 (I know, harsh but I just really don't like it). Couldve had so much potential.
character development - honestly, character development is my favourite mart of everything and I just didn't see any in here. it seems like felicie was already perfect - and by that I mean she didn't really have any flaws, she just stayed the same. her teacher (forgot her name) however seemed to open up a lot more so I'm leaving points for her, 6/10
i did like the little things they added - like how the statue of liberty was still under construction at this time, it was fascinating!
a tiny problem I had was also that felicie's head was super big - my head is big too, but it felt like her head was twice the size of victors and it scared me because it felt like it would just tip over. i know, I'm just thinking stupidly now.
overall, I'm rating the whole movie 6/10 (3/5 if you will) just because I liked SOME things in it, I did feel like it could've been more inclusive and diverse, whether with culture, size (I mean, ALL the girls there were just twigs!) and they were just all flexible, and the only person in the movies with a physical disability was the tutor. its just showing kids that most people they'll meet in their life wont have difficulty with physical and mental problems - either they wont be accepting or they wont feel accepted. we need to educate children more at young ages!
On my previous note, it could be better, but it is a pretty old movie.
