On 3 December 2021 Gardening Australia programme, was a story about transplanting a certain species of kelp from one healthy kelp growing area to another that had become depleted because pollution had killed the plants. PLEASE could you explain to the good people trying to transplant the kelp it is ESSENTIAL THEY DO NOT USE PLASTIC TRAYS in which to anchor the transplanted plants. We are all supposed to be aware that plastics of all kind must not be used, because they are generally indestructible. Please use WOOD trays for anchoring the transplanted kelp plants, and they can be anchored with 1/4 or 1/2 bricks to keep them weighted in the flow of the waters, quite satisfactorily. I think the wood will gradually rot and it will not matter if both wood trays and brick weights are left in the water, the kelp and marine creatures will soon make a home in them and with no environmental harm whatsoever. My guess is they will never be able to locate the plastic trays used or remove them entirely, without leaving some harmful plastic scraps in the water to kill marine creatures. PLEASE ASK THEM TO THINK CLEARLY ON THESE MATTERS and DO NOT EVER USE PLASTICS AT ALL, EVER.
