An average 'Hollywoodized' movie- the book was written for the screen but the screenplay removed stoic character scenes, added a 'smarter' than protagonist female, changed locations, added scenes from book 2, gender & race swapped a minor key character, made CIA integral, swapped goal of rescuing 2 girls to a early teen with heart issues etc etc. Basically ticked all the boxes for some sort of academy award nod at the cost of undermining the books story.
Great directors, big budget, great actors but low quality screenplay that aims ticking boxes rather than great storytelling.
I expected better for a $200million movie- almost like they used 'Sweet Baby inc' to make screenplay more acceptable to the 1% audience.
