So, here are my thoughts on the great Bridgerton series. After watching seasons 1 and 2 of the show, I was anticipating something, for example, slow-burn romance, enemies to lovers, family responsibilities, and so on. However, from the first episode, I knew it was going to be quite distinct from past seasons.
The Bridgerton prequel series Queen Charlotte consists of six episodes. I didn't notice it till I finished the sixth episode and understood it was the conclusion. Ha-ha! I guess I had unreasonable demands.
This is the story of King George and Queen Charlotte. It bounces between the past and the present. The actors in this part were well aware of what they were doing to their audience. They were just amazing as Charlotte and George. However, I believe they could have portrayed more of their love story. The chemistry was fantastic, but they didn't have enough scenes together. I want to cry!!
So, the show begins with Queen Charlotte being upset about marrying a man she has never met. She tries to flee, but when she encounters King George, she reconsiders and agrees to marry him. Perhaps Charlotte's and the audience's mental processes were very similar.
Queen Charlotte expected her husband to spend time with her, get to know each other, make love, and do all of the obligations expected of a royal couple. However, there was a twist: neither of them spent their honeymoon period together.
Charlotte is expected to obey her husband's orders, but Charlotte's character is brave, courageous, and brilliant, but most of all she is curious. She wants to find out what her spouse was hiding, so she does. She sees what King George was going through between the heavens and the earth. Oh my goodness! Their squabbles and confessions of love were like a rare jewel.
Aside from that, I felt terrible for Lady Danbury's challenges in her youth. She was the show-stopper in the first two seasons, and I expect her charisma will continue to impress us.
I also wish we could witness the prequel to Violet and Edmund's love relationship. From what Violet has stated in three series, they were full of love, so let's hope we get to experience her narrative as well.
As a period drama, the story's message is extremely unexpected. It literally delivered the message well. The portrayal of King George's illness and Queen Charlotte's staunch support for women's equality was excellent. Brimsley and Reynolds, are the other two most significant characters. Woah! I wasn't anticipating a gay love story, but they did an incredible job. As I previously stated, Bridgerton's stories never fail to live up to our expectations; they did an outstanding job.
And, if you're going to watch this series, I'd recommend starting with the first two stories to get a better sense of the characters' current lifestyles.
