When she was killed forcefully by the pagans then her eyes were removed from her body and hidden away by her descendants, whose symbol is borne by Valak's recent victims.
Now Valak wants to capture the sacred eyes of Saint Lucy so that she can retrieve her complete power back.
Taissa is the only key to open a safe passage for those helpless children in the boarding school and to disclose the truth of Valak's intention which makes a strong connection in between every audience and the story. Taissa's performance throughout the entire movie is highly impressive.
