Why isn't there an option for zero stars?
There's a lot I could say about how terrible this film is, but I'll summarize in bullet points.
- terrible acting (particularly the children, but mostly the father): scenes that are meant to be high energy are so stagnant because there's no flow whatsoever between the actors and there seems to be a pause between the lines delivered.
- terrible writing. Honestly, it's all so straightforward and predictable.
- what even is the storyline??? The actual struggles of the main character are barely represented, oh sure you see the miscarriage and the rape (which don't get me wrong is so horrifying), but there isn't any scenes to show the effect it had on Sarah. This movie is essentially a shortened play by play of a gut-wrenching story that could have been done soooooo much better. If you want to watch a good movie of this subject, skip this one, go watch "Room" with Brie Larson.
