Based off a tap, tap style rhythm game series from Japan, Uta no Prince-Sama is an extremely wholesome reverse harem anime that is not only cute and romantic but hilarious as well. Fall in love with every single character even if they aren't your usual type as you learn their backstories, watch them grow as idols, and see them find ways to be with the MC, Haruka Nanami.
Contrary to normal harem style anime, these boys are in an idol program that doesn't allow romantic love in any of their professional lives. So their love for the girl who composes their music can be endearing and absolutely hilarious to watch.
This story is quite near and dear to my heart as it swept me away with its absolutely stunning music, extremely well done character development, character design artwork, as well as the random bits of hilarity that ensue from the characters' interactions. I enjoyed that the artists took some hot boys and made them into chibi drawings to have fun with their personalities!
You can normally pick out the kind of guy you would prefer, but even after I chose mine (Tokiya), it was hard not to love the others as well. Every episode has a new song to debut and it is always well written and enjoyable to listen to!
The only critiques I have of this show is sometimes the animation isn't as nice as I think it should be and it can be a little cheesy at times. The artwork is lovely, but the animation of the dancing and some of their movements can be a bit difficult to watch. Later in the seasons, they switch over to a 3D style of animation for the dance sequences which can be better but can also be a little jarring. But that's me being nitpicky.
Honestly, this is a wonderful show to watch. If anything, listen to the music that they make. They should be billboard hits with some of the amazing melodies they've come up with.
