The characters are not particularly likable and I was hoping for more details on resistance activities or historical events. Instead there were whiny characters who complained all the time. Germans are largely absent in the narrative and efforts to thwart them take place elsewhere. The part where she goes to heaven was just silly. If not for a book club I probably would not have finished it.
