Kevin Costner has created a huge canvas for what promises to be a great epic. Chapter 1 is confidently paced and beautiful to watch. What's more, the acting is excellent throughout. There's tension, humour and some genuinely affecting scenes. Horizon feels old fashioned in the best sense of the word. It also feels oddly ground breaking. Why? Because it attempts to deliver a sustained narrative across a series of films. Not a repetition of a formula. I can't wait to see Chapter 2.
