I usually like shows about horrible rich people, when they're done well. Sucession and The Fall of the House of Usher are great examples, with characters that are morally repugnant, unrelatable, and self-indulgent, but still nuanced and compelling. The Perfect Couple offers none of this. The rich people are beautiful and mostly youthful, but they are utterly boring. There was not a single character, including the alleged biologist from humble beginnings, who was the least bit interesting. Even the murder plot was uninteresting, because 90% of the runtime was devoted to stupid soap opera love triangles instead of intrigue. I kept hoping something would happen to force anyone in this show to behave in a compelling, understandable way, but it never happened. They were useless people living privileged, pointless lives of gross over-consumption, and I despised every one of them. And then, as if six episodes of this wasn't absurd enough, Nicole Kidman's evil matriarch character underwent an inexplicable personality transplant in the last 2 minutes. It was laughable.
