A genius cast of actors from 2006 who bring depth and voice to a story that’s really about the BS of Los Angeles and the movie industry. It’s chock full of dated misogynistic jokes and women’s silent awkward reactions, a reminder of how much things have changed if you compare it to more recent filmography. Scene after scene is filled with especially brilliant work by Catherine O’Hara, Jane Lynch, and Parker Posey. They make the film worth watching. A surprise appearance of Derek Waters in the last few minutes is a fun moment for all those “Drunk History” fans out there. The theme of gradual loss of Jewish identity is carefully woven into what really amounts to, overall, a very clever story and film.
