Heartwarming, thought-provoking and quite sentimental. Perhaps a simplistic premise, but as an allegory, and even more so as a story of individual lives and decisions, and how difficult it often is to make good decisions, very unique. It is a meditation on loss, grief, and love, and a new twist on what-ifs: What if the what-ifs of our deaths were known in advance? How would it change our lives, and how would it change society? The details of this question are spelled out with what feels quite accurate, and characters become much more three-dimensional than you would expect.
