This movie was unfortunately exactly what I expected - predictable. After watching Mid 90s (with Hedges) a month ago, it seemed Hedges played the same character in Boy Erased. In fact he really doesn't add up to what some say as this generations hottest actor. He has been given some good scripts. But I feel he is not versatile at all.
The movie's score was constantly trying to pull at your heart strings. There was too much of it.
I didn't feel this was a well crafted story. It kind of threw you into the thick of it. Sterotypical characters and alot of back and forth. The script never allowed any real depth to these characters to build. "Very Vanilla" is the best way to put. A few very cheesy "pay offs" as well. Was not terrible but it get only 2 out of 5 stars. Wait for Red Box.
