The imagery Kerouac summons through this novel helped start a revolutionary flame through the 50s and 60s, and the question ‘how’ is thrown out the window after reading it. The style of writing puts every tedious moment in similar importance to the World War, which makes his hungry ‘meaning to life’ truly rip itself off the page. Some of the greatest prose, and greatest experiences I’ve ever had reading a novel. He puts into practice the real moral of his story, to live day to day and word to word.
