Glossy, sharp, rich digital effects + costumes + locations + art direction. Perfect mix of nostalgia meets reboot meets palpable apocalyptic dread of our current world events. Original cast wholly fulfills our 90s homesick woes. The melding of two disparate storylines works— narratively establishing, transporting, and finally introducing the “original” and “new” cast to each other. Loses a point because the dinosaurs do feel a little too much like extras rather than headliners in a Jurassic Park franchise film. That being said, dinos take the lead in several glitzy, seat jumping action sequences. JWD is a fun, on the nose, don’t take yourself so seriously, almost kitschy, but thoroughly entertaining summer blockbuster. It’s okay to laugh at the more cheesy lines, sit back and enjoy the ride… #mustgofaster.
