Hidden Exit – Google

It was alright. I guess. Very dull. No atomophere. It doesn't get personal enough to justify the topic. Very surface level stuff here. Hardly any character or perspectives from anyone. Instead all you're left with are a couple troubling details. So plain you may as well have read it in three paragraphs. Not so captivating. It fails to induce emotion or attachment to any of the characters. There is complete lack of feel-good hope or resolve. Ending feels stuck. Rushed, dry, emotionally stunted, general, boring, unsatisfying. Would not watch again.

I'm big fan of the original & I figured because of that, I should watch the remake. Why not, right? My expectations were low but I kept an open mind and watched it as though it were it's own separate movie. Boy was I disappointed. The remake falls very flat. Number 1. The lack of connection between our two characters leaves you unsatisfied, their relationship was spent short probably because of the shorter run time. I didn't feel invested in these characters. There was emotion, but hardly any at all. Number 2. Time gaps. There are many time gaps & unlike the original, these time gaps are displayed kind of cheaply. You don't get to feel that it's been very long since they've last seen each other. For example, the time since Whitney's daughter was born & grew older is rushed & just sort of information thrown out there to complete the story. The original displayed this much more effectively. Number 3. Acting. While not all the acting is bad, some of it is quite good, there are flaws where flaws are needed the least. The acting in this movie really falls right back into the character development, the lack of raw emotion. Instead of a heartfelt emotional rollercoaster, we get a blank slate drama. There's plenty more to say but all in all, it's just not that great. I'd recommend watching it to judge it for yourself because at the end of the day, you might like it. P.S.
