- Story was fairly simplistic with a decent twist, but it's thematic elements were more than I could have ever asked for.
- Gameplay stopped really changing after about the 3/4 mark, but it's a sidescroller, so it's to be expected, all things considered.
-Art, sound, and world design are absolutely beautiful, given that it's an obvious tribute to the Kurosawa style and that of the silent era of film, with its on-rails camera angles.
-The voice-acting for the standard Japanese dub is perfection. I couldn't have asked for any better from the actors.
The game itself has a heavy emphasis on the world and mythological elements pulled from Japanese culture (as the name implies), with the story being more of an afterthought. This is not a detriment however, because this is one of the rare cases, i feel, in which the setting and themes far outweigh the story and even the charcters (much in the way that Halo: Reach did). I was pleasantly surprised at just how well the game's themes were adhered to and how committed the studio was to driving them home, while also protraying them in a respectful and appropriate way, without it becoming tiresome or too cliche.
TL;DR
Fantastic experience, if you go in with the right expectations.10/10 would recommend, and I don't even like sidescrollers all that much.
