Honestly I didn't have high expectations for this movie despite how many positive posts and reviews I saw on SNS. I watched this movie simply to fulfill my curiousity since I am intrigued.
I, myself, am a fangirl. I admit I could see myself in the main character. Delusions, obsessions...I've been there though I wouldn't go as far as stalking my idols like that lol. It made me cringe but her reactions and fantasies...they were accurate. Fanatics indeed like that. Other than that, though, everything else in this movie is dark. The alcohol, drugs, sex with a minor, misogyny, domestical abuse and more disturbing themes that are part of this movie were sort of heavy. I saw that sex scene coming (although it confused me and made me laugh while watching it, it just ended as quickly as it happened).
I was expecting that the actor turns out to be a psychopath and kills his fan to silence her, or could be the other way around because that's what I initally thought when people described it as 'dark'. It's alright, though. This didn't disappoint me.
What disappointed me is...well, the ending. Particularly the part where the fan girl jumps out of the car with her idol's child. Things just started to not make sense to me, anymore. I mean, I get it. But....it's just so abrupt? And the fan girl comes home just like that? When she contacted the police, did she report her abusive stepfather? Yes, an open ending, and rather complex one. It just didn't satisfy me.
The cast's acting, especially the actor, was brilliant. Same goes with the fangirl, though there is certainly more room for improvement.
