Moves too slow. Family and friends are clueless about the differences between the real and fake lead

Just a confusing movie. The birds attack the lead women but not the man. Characters are panicked in one scene and then calm as a cucumber the next scene. Why oh why would the lead woman go in the attic. Just makes no sense.
