I have seen many reviews that this film has something to do with Thatcher era deprivation or post Thatcherism. How can the behaviours of these parents be blamed on any political party? Wouldn't these parents behave the same whichever political party was in power? Ray lost his job but how many father's would end up behaving like him?. Is his mother's violence also to be blamed on Mrs Thatcher?
