Old bones does a good job weaving character stories together. The middle of the book circles between perspectives until the characters meet. I enjoyed that it was based partly on true events with the donner party, and enjoyed some light spookiness at points. The end for me, left something to be desired. The plot twist, if you can call it that, came a little too abruptly. It was too convenient and I would have enjoyed more foreshadowing leading to the end. If you like a story that wraps up nicely with a bow then this may be the book for you. The story was engaging, and kept my book club interested throughout the book. I can see the appeal the two writers bring, as each writes in a distinctive style. I would say it’s worth a read if you’re looking for something new to put on your shelf.
