Although I liked the way the team executed the work, Kala lacks a solid plot. The movie is a visual treat indeed, from the unusual camera angles, and how the director tried to add friction into the scenes. The title work, 'vanyam' is outstanding.
Moor as the tribal boy did a wonderful job. Glad that he could make the most out of the character given. Tovino's performance as Shaji was praiseworthy. The director succeeded in giving a shady impression to every other character, throughout the film.
The plot lacks depth towards the end mostly because the movie doesn't explain why the supporting cast acts so, or in other words, the way they act lacks sense. The family becomes a mere audience expressing confusion and simply walking throughout the scene.
Kudos to the team for the experimental movie making.
