If you grew up in the 80s, it’s easier to appreciate films like this. It’s more of an escape from reality lesson type film, with a few messages about being happy with the life you have and to stop thinking it could’ve been better because every life has its problems. It actually made me sad to see how John Lovitz’s character turned out in the alternate reality. How Jim’s character felt, I felt. It’s a classic 80s movie a very cookie cutter type story just like Back To The Future, minus the sci-fi & great execution, but it’s not bad. BTTF was more about changing the past to make everything better, and for the most part succeeding, but this has more of an anti-messing with events time theme, as it progresses. I’ve watched this several times over the years. It’s an easy to watch, simple film for a relaxing day of unwinding. Not a lot of adrenaline. You might like it if you like Bruce Almighty and things like that, where messing with reality is the premise. But it’s not as “playground” like, but more linear.
