George Orwell's interpretation of a totalitarian society is done extremely well. He accurately depicts the consequences of an overcontrolling government. It's hard to put this one down once you pick it up. It's gloomy, it's sad, it's intense. Even with all the negative narratives in this story, a positive one stands out as well. The positive message of the book is that its very difficult to get inside a persons head to that extent, the government had to go to incredible lengths to brainwash Winston.
