I never watched the first Puss in Boots movie. Thought that I'm disinterested in the movie just that I never got around to it. I found myself bored one day and decided to give the last wish a go. I always found these movies entertaining and enjoyable. But my God hooked within the first 12 minutes of the movie. I've always been the type that's drawn in by good characters and a sucker for a good villain and the movie has two of them. Puss in Boots and his tag team, and the B characters are all done wonderfully. But the villains drive this movies narrative forward, and give everything in the movie weight which makes the lessons in the movie impactful.
The number one thing that has made me watch this movie over and over is the big bad wolf. His whistle, how well the character is done stylistically, and the voice acting is top tier. The saddest part is how little the character is on the screen, but his presence is felt throughout the movie never leaving the back of your mind waiting for his next appearance. I hope in the future we get to see more of this character as it would truly be a shame to put him back on the shelf for good.
10/10 Truly a modern kid classic.
