Ghost of Tsushima was a great game. I would give it 5 stars, but there are a few things holding it back. There are some positives and negatives
Positives:
-Fun gameplay
-Visually impressive
-Shockingly fun online component
Negatives:
-A bit too buggy for what I expect from a game in 2020
-Some of the side quests were boring and there were far too many of them. Most of them were like "explore 3 items in the environment. Follow footsteps. Kill mongols"
-Though the gameplay was fun, the enemies were a bit too repetitive. And combat could feel stale at times. The online version seems to fix this a bit. When the shamans appeared in the expansion, it felt like a breath of fresh air, as there was someone in the environment who changed the flow of battle, even a bit, to break up monotony.
On that note, there is a lack of horseback combat. This is laughably apparent when enemies charge at you with on horseback, and then politely stop to get off and fight you.
Summary: Even though the game was good, it could have been much improved with a tighter focus on the main plot and characters of the game. I spent some time doing side quests and nearly got bored of the game, but when I went back to the story quests it got interesting again. Side quests should add to the game, not take away from them. This game was made in 2020, and there are other games that have already shown this to be possible.
