Quite different from other Ealing comedies in that it is much blacker and has a real edge. Dennis Price gives an exceptional performance, taking revenge on the aristocratic family who've disowned his mother and him. He narrates the story and plays it completely straight as he murders the various members of the family who stand between him and his inheritance.
