Spoilers because it’s a terrible remake and doesn’t matter. The other google reviews are insane. This show butchered the characters besides zuko, I can’t think of anything for him. Aang isn’t playful and doesn’t act like a kid. Despite the entire show revolving around aang learning the elements, not once does he attempt to water bend or learn to. The one time Katara asks him if they should practice, aang just says nahhh don’t feel like it and nopes out. Katara is insanely one dimensional. The only thing she cares about is getting stronger, everything that makes her, her is cut out and replaced with power scaling. Katara is hopeful and sees the best in everyone and puts faith in strangers, she gets burnt by jet for trusting him, but in the Netflix version she is sceptical of jet for a while and sensing somethings off going completely against her character. Sokka has been reduced to nothing, he’s not funny, he doesn’t go through personal growth and trying to be better, the only thing that’s focused on is how he’s not a warrior he’s an engineer and kinda just makes him out to be useless because the one thing that “he” invented is going to be used extensively by the fire nation. Why is the tunnel of love in season 1? Why was the love between sokka and Katara? The power scaling is way off, in the anime only important characters or characters you know are powerful can use unique abilities, so why do we see fire nation soldiers flying in the first episode then never again? Why does aang also fly around like Superman in the first episode and then his staff magically appears an episode or 2 later and he only flies with it afterwards. I honestly don’t see why this exists, it’s far worse because of only 8 episodes everything is rushed and the gangs friendship isn’t fleshed out. The stuff they changed made the show confusing or just worse. If you liked the original show then watch the original. Don’t give money and views to these half baked live action remakes everyone knows are going to be worse and the only reason we get a million remakes of everything and little new compelling stories is because it’s cheaper and the audience is easy to please.
