I really enjoyed the first story despite the endless car crash flashbacks and pill-popping. I had to give up partway through the second story though because I just couldn’t see anything but endless silhouettes due to the overdone “Scandi” lighting or lack thereof. After a long while of hoping someone would just please please please turn a light on I finally gave up and switched off….. goodbye The Gulf!

Fantastic acting by James Nesbitt’s eyebrows….that’s all I can say.

I don’t care whether it’s believable or not or got loads of plot holes or if there’s a blinking extradition treaty or if Richard Armitage is too breathy! I thoroughly enjoyed it and binge-watched it over three nights! The leads were terrific and I highly highly recommend it, quite a change from the boring drivel we usually get lumbered with.

Season 4 is brilliant, with Oscar-winning actress Jodie Foster showing her legendary acting skills, she’s a natural. The other actors are pretty great too with some you might recognise from countries on this side of the Atlantic: Fiona Shaw (Scotland), Dervla Kirwan (Ireland), Christopher Eccleston (England). I’m hooked and will be gutted when it’s finished.

The best Harlan Coben adaptation I’ve seen so far. Binge watched it in two days. The script was a little repetitive and I lost track a bit but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. I particularly enjoyed the police duo and think that is something that could have been developed for future series except the timeline shot forward 18 years at the end 🥺😢 which I didn’t like at all; it was just too much of a jump and was a bit soppy. Was disappointed that Richard Armitage didn’t turn up alive and wonder why he took such a small role but generally 5 out of 5.

Supremely excellent in every way, casting, script, production values. It never puts a foot wrong and tells dear Peter and Ann’s harrowing stories sensitively and with empathy. I watched all four episodes with no break and can honestly say this is the most compelling production I have seen for a very long time. The actors were outstanding and everyone connected to this drama should be praised for their high quality work.

It took a little while to get used to the time changes between the 70’s and 90’s and the background on the 3 girls was completely non-existent. My main complaint was a general lack of close-ups of the actors which hampered the characterisations. When they eventually introduced the main suspect in episode 3, bang!, immediate close-up! A bit obvious but this is when I was drawn in. The actors were all amazing, especially Phillip Glenister in the lead. Anuerin Barnard was perfectly cast and was excellent considering he had such a tiny role. Certainly well worth a look.

Initially, I was reluctant to accept this version of Dalgleish having been so much in love with Roy Marsden when I was a child. However, Bertie Carvel has won me over and I think he is brilliant playing the sensitive and cerebral Dalgleish. Sometimes, the sets and props make the scenes look more like wartime era instead of a more modern 70’s/80’s and I notice some of the attitudes of that era have been carefully updated from the books. The Murder Room was just fantastic and I’m already eager for the next series to see more of the delicious Bertie Carvel.
