I would give this a 1 if it hadnt been for subzero ....and i guess the shortness of appearance with scorpion. They are the only reason i watched it twice. The rest was not enough. I dont see why soo many people give it 4-5 stars unless they arent in their 30s or older coming from experiencing the original Mortal Kombat games from Nintendo. MK4 was my fave. The 3D affect and easier ways of achieving awesome fatalities. The 1995 original MK is still best in my opinion. It showed the tournament and had more original characters and goro was awesome during his briefness over this. ...But this is 2021!! This IS the future. So i get why it seems as cheesy as it is but it shouldnt be. This movie should have been longer and had more original characters and not die off subzero and scorpion with the briefness they had. The other characters were cheezy. The cgi was obvious. This was rushed just to make a MK movie for people but wasnt done to do it justice. The no tournament reasoning to have no tournament was retarded. Definitely why it felt rushed, and their work around for the tournament was dumb!! Goros spot in the movie was dumb. This needed to be more like the original but with our now futuristic ways of making it amazing and more enhanced. Not something different trying to make it what its not. Its just not Mortal Kombat in my eyes. Sonya had some cool fighting, but coming from jackie chan and jet li days, man, these characters could not match up when they are suppose to be above and beyond. This should have made us hesitaters and disbelievers in believing it would be good blown away. I was hoping. The previews show the best parts. But didnt deliver. Its worth watching though. But dont count on an awesome Mortal Kombat reboot of the future being 2021 to be something that it could have been. Thats just my opinion. In the end, i know im not a movie maker and i couldnt make this movie myself. But if i knew how to it would have been beyond badd@$$!
