Its not wokeness, its was happening already direction. *spoiler alert* ‼️
The movie starts on a sweet, lighthearted note, following the life of a joyful teenage girl. But soon, she's forced into the role of caretaker for her "monstrous" parents, all while trying to find a way to bring them back together. How does she do it? By going on an adventurous journey to reunite her fractured family.
The first half of the film centers on this quest, but as the story nears its conclusion, the parents come to a heartbreaking realization: in their effort to fix their relationship, they've overlooked their daughter’s needs.
At its core, the film explores a theme that’s all too familiar for many kids—navigating the emotional complexities of separated parents.
What I appreciate most is how the film tackles this issue from a child’s perspective. It’s refreshing and offers a unique angle for an animated movie. While it’s not flawless, it’s a brave attempt to showcase a tough topic, and I think that’s worth acknowledging. Some might argue it isn’t quite the ideal "family film," but with the world we live in today, it’s an important narrative to introduce to younger audiences.
That said, the film’s songs could have been toned down a bit—they can feel a bit overwhelming at times. But overall, I’d say it's worth watching. Just be prepared for a bit of musical overload along the way.
