As a 31 year old life long Drake fan, I think the reason this album is so disappointing goes far beyond the mediocre bars, lackluster melodies and forgettable hooks. It's the fact that I can no longer relate to Drake on really anything. What's he rapping about at this point that's actually enthralling an audience? Who even is his audience anymore?
Frustratingly, he showed on "8 AM in Charlotte" that he can still throw it down when he wants to; the sad reality, however, is that he's too concerned with pandering to all different kinds of crowds and fans of mumble rap and knows that he will make tons of money regardless of what kind of album he puts out. So the most we get is one song like that and 22 other throwaways.
I really do miss the old Drake, and sadly I don't think he's ever coming back.
