Srijit Mukherji's film 'Jaatishwar' is based on the concept of re-incarnation. The story potrayed two non-bengali of different generation who fell in love with Bengali culture and had chosen music to connect different people. Long years ago, Prosenjit in the role of a portugeese, Anthony Firingee fell in love with Bengali culture. The story revolves around his life and his notable works. He married a Bengali lady, saving her from the hands of the superstitous brahmins of Bengal. And in present day, Jisshu in the role of a Gujrati boy, Rohit fell in love with a Bengali girl and tried all possible ways to impress her. Both of them were very much influenced by the folk culture of Bengal. Swastika as the lead actress performed to be very much possesive and obssesed with Bengali and in some ways her role reflects a hatred towards other languages, which in my viewpoint is the only drawback of the film. The acting levels of the actors were really great. The fights of Jisshu and Prosenjit to prove themselves as true Bengali lovers really mesmerised us. Through this movie, the director had shown music as the connector of all diversity and language barrier as one of the most dangerous barriers to build walls among people. Consequently it is one of the best Bengali movies of Srijit Mukherji with the briliant musical works of Kabir Suman.
