This article is about a classical Indian novel "Pather Panchali" written by Bhibhutibhushan Banerjee.
Simple portrayal of the day-to-day life of a poor Bengali family in the early years of 20th century, mainly from the POV of the two children Opu and Durga. Although very little happens, we get to know the characters so well (their motivations, hopes, dreams etc, esp Opu's love of the natural world) that they practically coalesce into reality before the reader's eyes. Deeply affecting/moving masterpiece.
