I don't write film reviews but THIS film has prompted me to do so - make of that what you will! To be honest, I'm still reeling from the experience. I've always loved science fiction but this film transcends sci-fi - in the same way that Space Odyssey did. Is it on the same level as Space Odyssey? No but only because that film was so ground breaking, in so many ways. Spaceman is delightfully surreal, thought provoking & deep and IMO, Adam Sandler's acting was his best to date. If you're looking for an instant fix, or some kind of high octane visual feast then move on but if you're looking for a cerebral journey, then open your mind and immerse yourself in this flight of space fantasy. I can't explain why but somehow, I feel better for the experience.

It's a quirky, offbeat, comedic Sci-Fi movie, with a strong French flavour. Obviously (judging from some of the reviews) it's a Marmite film. I'm no film buff and don't claim to be, I'm not that pretentious but it seems to me that if you're looking for a Hollywood style, iRobot esque glitzy charade, you won't find it here but if you like the original cult of the slightly cheesy 50's Sci-Fi B-Movie, but with a twist, then give it a go. Think Mars Attacks!! and you're in a similar ballpark. Different can be good, even when it seems bad! :)
