The movie was beautiful and I will definitely be giving the book a read. I felt very connected to Kya and her life story. Sexual violence shown in the movie is very honest and isn't too focused on throughout the film and so it doesn't ruin the experience. I recommend plugging your ears and closing your eyes and having a partner with you for help if you watch it in theaters. I think it's important to represent consent in film and to show it properly and this film did that. I didn't love that Kya and Tate just had sex immediately when they made up, I thought it made no sense and it was stupid especially after what happened to her but every other aspect of that relationship and how she acts and how Chase acts is especially realistic and the acting is outstanding. I will say the scenes are very triggering and intense. I do like that they aren't out of nowhere and surprising on top of traumatizing because that has been a recurrence in media.
