Mike & Lucas Milenko (The Marvellous 444)

Review Spoiler Alert: it's breathtakingly immense. This game is not perfect, it borrows from Tomb Raider, Uncharted, and Assassin's Creed amongst others, and whilst it doesn't live up to the gameplay mechanics of those games, it is one of the most engrossing and playable games I've had the pleasure of completing. I've put about 70+ hours into the Complete Edition and I'm still finding new places to visit. It is a game that gets better the more you play and level up. Recommended for certain.

I really don't understand the high scores behind this game. I want so much to like it, but I'm finding it such a slog to play through. I've completed up to chapter 5 and haven't enjoyed any of it yet. The fights are horrible turn based ones, (I've nothing against this style of fighting, as I'm a long time Final Fantasy aficionado) that you are forced into as you traverse the map. The lead character is an unlikeable DH, as are most side characters. The animations are repetitive and used by other NPC. Yes, it's a game of epic proportions, but when the first several hours are cutscene after cutscene, it really takes away the enjoyment of playing a game for entertainment.

It's just not fun at all. I've heard amazing things about it and managed to pick it up cheap. I'm glad I did now, as I've lost that itch that needed scratching but it's getting traded in tomorrow. I suppose it's a love it or hate it kind of game. For me, it's just too hard. The movement is clunky, and the lack of direction just had me wandering around aimlessly. This is my first Souls type game, and I suppose if I was to stick with it, I'd end up enjoying it along with everyone else. The problem is I have no desire to put myself through the stress.
