Together is a successful and unforgettable film that takes the idea of human connection and relationships to the next levelโboth emotionally and physically. The movie starts off slow, but that pace is deliberate. It carefully sets up the coupleโs dynamic, showing all the cracks in their relationship before things take a horrifying turn.
As the story unfolds, we learn that the couple is cursed by a cult and begin to literally merge into a single being. Itโs disturbing, original, and deeply symbolic. I appreciated how the film used body horror not just for shock value, but as a way to explore co-dependency and the loss of identity in relationships.
There are also several darkly comedic moments that help relieve the tension, making the movie more enjoyable to watch overall. The humor never feels forcedโit adds a weird charm to an otherwise intense and emotional story.
The acting was definitely one of the best parts. Dave Franco and Alison Brie had amazing chemistry (unsurprising since theyโre married in real life), and some scenes really hit hard emotionally. They both delivered incredibly raw and physically demanding performances that sold the bizarre premise.
I also liked how the ending didnโt tie everything up neatlyโit leaves the door open for a sequel, which I think could be just as good if done right. The concept of identity, cult influence, and transformation has a lot of room to expand.
Overall, Iโd give Together a solid 9/10. Itโs weird, bold, emotional, and unlike anything Iโve seen in a while. Definitely worth watching.
