There were a lot of people going to the toilet/shop during this movie. Apparently, the book, which I haven't read, has a lot of'silence' in it and they were trying to stay true to the book even using most of the dialogue from the book. It would make a fabulous stage play but there is no doubt it is very slow moving for a lot of cinema goers. I enjoyed the acting. There were times when the couple was speaking that felt almost like they were in a confessional box. It was probably to create the distance there was between them as his wife could not fully understand her husband's depression. The house is tiny, dark and claustrophobic. All the scenes are dark. It is an arty movie, so don't go if you want Hollywood. I really enjoyed it and totally got Bill's sadness. I'm up right now at 4am in the morning! You'll know what I mean if you go.
