Overall, it was an engaging movie. Art is not just about creativity, it must also be a responsible piece that is put out into the world. And in this movie, there were many ups and downs on this feeling. Here are my thoughts on each of the stories:
1. Majnu: 1/5 It had a weak storyline, seemed like it was a novice piece of writing that just didn’t work for me. The acting was decent, but not the best I’ve seen from these actors.
2. Khilauna: 3.5/5 gave me scary chills at the end. There was a killer in an innocent body, it was not expected.
3. Geeli Pucchi: 3.5/5 The storyline was good, sadly shows the reality of how the social caste systems have a big impact on the lives of many people. Clever ending, good overall.
4. Ankahi: 2/5 Absolutely loved the acting! Moviemaking wise, it was good storytelling as well. BUT the only reason I would give this a 2-star rating is for promoting this idea that fights/arguments in a marriage means ‘no love’. The child saying to her mum that dad doesn’t love her, was messed up! In a real world society, do we really see our parents showing affection to each other 100% of the time? NO. Fights happen where there is care and love. Instead of teaching the true meaning of love, companionship, honesty and respect in a marriage, there is this sh** concept of giving up so easily on a relationship that needs to be slightly worked on. In this story, the lady just goes and sleeps with another guy - not something I would want to be normalized in the society (both for females or males). There are enough stupid or immature people out there who would try to make their life a Bollywood movie and get inspired/get wrong ideas from such stories. AND THEN PEOPLE SAY THEY WANT THE 1900s ERA BACK WHEN LIFE WAS SIMPLER.
